The Beginning: Finding the Right Face

for this shoot wasn’t easy. I always prefer someone with a strong jawline, someone whose face can carry an emotion, a story. That’s when I met Priya—a background dancer in a music video.

During a casual chat on set, I asked her if she had ever considered modeling. She had no experience, but there was something about her presence that made me believe she had potential. So, while shooting another model, I arranged a quick test shoot for her.

Watching a Model Evolve

Priya adapted fast. I always guide my models, describing the mood, the thought process behind each shot. She listened, observed, and transformed. By the time we wrapped up our test shoot, I knew she was ready for something bigger.

The Shoot: No Sponsors, Just Pure Creativity

When it came to the actual magazine shoot, everything was on a tight budget. No sponsors, no designer wardrobe—just raw creativity and passion. Priya brought her own outfits, and we planned the styling over a video call before the shoot. We selected pieces that fit the mood, the setting, and the story we wanted to tell.

We shot at a restaurant, but there was a catch—we had to wrap by 2 PM before it opened to customers at 3. That meant we started early, at 7 AM, making the most of the soft morning light. I love working with natural light, and since I didn’t have any artificial lighting with me, I used the restaurant’s ambient lighting and positioned Priya near windows for the best effect. No reflectors, no modifiers—just the light as it was.

Fast-Paced, Spontaneous, and Real

My shooting style is quick. Each look takes me about 10 minutes to capture. I move around a lot, stepping forward and backward, making sure I don’t miss an angle. Never use a tripod because it limits my movement and always prefer being free, capturing the moment as it happens.

Priya needed a warm-up at first, but as the shoot progressed, her confidence grew. By the end, she was completely in tune with the camera, and we both knew we had something special.

The Moment of Validation

When we reviewed the images, we felt happy and content. The shots carried emotion, elegance, and authenticity. And the best part? The magazine took them without a single change. That was a huge moment—proof that our vision was strong enough to stand on its own.
