Photography Beyond Expensive Gear
All these images have been captured using a range of cameras, including my Nikon D60 with an 18-55mm kit lens and Nikon D5600, proving that great photographs are not about expensive gear but about vision, creativity, and understanding of light. Whether using high-end equipment or an entry-level camera, the essence of photography remains the same—storytelling through visuals.
As part of my self-assigned project “Out of the Box,” I collaborated with dancers from various forms, capturing their movements and expressions in a unique way. This project allowed me to explore the beauty of motion, form, and storytelling through dance photography, pushing the boundaries of conventional imagery.
Exploring Street, Nature, and Wildlife Photography
With the group Mumbai Weekend Shooters, I traveled across Mumbai and nearby locations, diving deep into street photography and nature photography. These explorations helped me refine my ability to capture raw human emotions, urban life, and the natural beauty surrounding the city. To ensure authenticity while respecting people’s space, I used a Nikkor 70-300mm FX lens to shoot from a distance, allowing me to document moments without disturbing anyone.
Through this lens, I was also introduced to the world of wildlife photography at Borivali National Park. Observing and capturing animals in their natural habitat gave me a deeper appreciation for patience, timing, and the beauty of nature’s untamed moments.
A Deep Dive Into Macro Photography
Later, with a second-hand macro lens, I ventured into the fascinating world of micro insect photography. This opened up an entirely new perspective, revealing intricate details invisible to the naked eye. From tiny insects to the delicate textures of mushrooms, snails, and moss, every frame felt like an exploration into a hidden universe. The play of light, color, and minuscule details made macro photography an awe-inspiring journey of discovery.
